Why we naturally drift toward calmer content at night

I keep noticing that I don’t really “choose” calm videos at night — I just end up there. Like my brain automatically avoids anything too fast or loud. It feels less like a decision and more like a natural drift. Do you think that’s something universal, or is it just a personal habit I built over time?

I think it’s pretty universal, honestly. At night your energy drops, and your brain starts looking for less demanding input without you realizing it. I’ve had the same experience — I might start scrolling normally, but after a few minutes I always switch to

slower or more repetitive. It feels easier to stay with. I don’t think it’s just habit, because even when I try to watch intense stuff in the evening, I lose interest quickly. It’s like my attention just refuses extra effort at that point in the day.
