Veep - Season 2

Veep is an American political satire television comedy series created by Armando Iannucci, as a U.S. spin of the premise of his 2005 BBC series, The Thick of It. The series premiered on HBO on April 22, 2012.[1] Shot in a cinéma-vérité style, Veep stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Selina Meyer, the Vice President of the United States (or "Veep"), and later President of the United States, as she struggles to stay politically relevant. During the course of the series, 65 episodes of Veep aired over seven seasons, between April 22, 2012, and May 12, 2019.

HBO sets premiere dates for season 7 of Veep as well as season 2 of Big Little Lies. The Emmy-winning Veep will indeed end its run on HBO after the upcoming seventh season, while Big Little Lies returns for a second go-around after an acclaimed first season in 2017.

Created by Armando Iannucci, the comedy Veep revolves around savvy but sometimes flustered politician Selina Meyer, played by the legendary Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Over the course of Veep's previous six seasons, Selina went from acting as vice president, to herself ascending to the presidency, before finally bowing out of politics altogether. Season 7 of Veep, which was delayed for a year as star Louis-Dreyfus underwent cancer treatment, is expected to return to the show's roots with Selina pondering another run at elected office.

As revealed by HBO, March 3 has been set as the premiere date for the seventh and final season of Veep. The last season will be a truncated one, with only seven episodes airing (seasons 2-6 all extended to 10 episodes after season 1 ran for just eight). In addition, Jason Lynch of AdWeek reports that HBO's drama Big Little Lies is set to return beginning in June, meaning it will miss the window for Emmy eligibility. It was previously reported that Meryl Streep will join the cast of Big Little Lies for its second season, joining returning stars Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern and Zoë Kravitz.

Like so many HBO shows over the years, Big Little Lies proved to be an awards season heavyweight, snagging four Golden Globes and eight Emmys, with Nicole Kidman herself winning Best Actress statues from both awards bodies. Based on a novel by Liane Moriarty, the show follows three emotionally troubled mothers who become embroiled in a murder investigation. The show was originally conceived as a one-off miniseries but its success prompted HBO to order up a second season, with Moriarty penning a new story.

As for Veep, the show returns for one last go-around on HBO after its own impressive run of Emmy awards dominance. In all, Louis-Dreyfus has won an incredible six awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, and will no doubt be in line for a seventh after season 7 airs. Perhaps this time around the Golden Globes will fall in line with the Emmys and also honor Louis-Dreyfus after somewhat infamously nominating her five years in a row without giving her the prize. Between Veep and Big Little Lies, not to mention that other little show called Game of Thrones, HBO is without question poised for another great year.

One of my favorite looks from the season, and unfortunately I could only grab a good shot of the top of this dress. Julia always looks great in her evening wear. The sheer top is sexy without being risque.

The actress, who returns as Vice President Selina Meyer for the HBO series' second season on April 14, won an Emmy for Best Actress in a Comedy following the first season of "Veep." But Louis-Dreyfus, who spent nine years as Elaine Benes on "Seinfeld" and five years as the titular character in CBS's "The New Adventures of Old Christine," said she wasn't looking for an "asshole" character to play.

This season we find Selina in pretty good favor. Is she going to mess that up somehowSure! Always. [Laughs.] The shit's really going to hit the fan. A lot happens ... Episodes 5-10, I think they're pretty mind-blowing. We went all over the pla
