For external use only. Lemongrass essential oil is a powerful essential oil; do not exceed the stated drops in blends. It is best avoided in individuals with eczema or highly allergy-prone skin. Essential oils are concentrated versions of the natural oils found in plants and trees. The oils come from the leaves, fruits, bark, flowers, seeds, roots, or resins. Most essential oils are extracted by steam distillation. However, essential oils made from citrus fruits use a process called cold pressing.
Today, essential oils are still valued for their aromatic and cosmetic qualities. Aromatherapists use essential oils to promote health and well-being. Many people use essential oils for hair and skin care, and to clean their homes.
Lemongrass oil benefits for hair include adding shine. The benefits of using lemongrass essential oil for hair has made lemongrass a popular ingredient in hair care products. To make your own version, add two drops to a tablespoon of your regular shampoo and conditioner. Here are a few more recipes to try.
Although it is safe to use lemongrass essential oil for skin, it causes more allergic reactions and skin sensitization than other oils. Therefore, read the safety and precautions section below before trying any of these recipes on your skin.
Dogs are scent-driven and have a much more sensitive sense of smell than humans. What may seem mild and pleasant smelling to a human, may be very overwhelming and irritating to a dog. In addition, dogs might inhale or lick essential oils and have different reactions depending on the size and breed of the dog. Finally, no studies have demonstrated that essential oils are an effective method of flea and tick control for dogs.
Lemongrass essential oil side effects include skin sensitization (bright red rashes on light skin and darker areas on dark skin). In addition, lemongrass tends to cause more allergic reactions in people than other essential oils. For this reason, the oil should be diluted to levels no greater than 0.7%. We recommend using a 0.5% dilution rate (1 drop of oil per 2 teaspoons of carrier oil).
I am very impressed (and grateful) for this post. I am new to Cliganic, but I have used medical grade essential oils for years. What I love most is your balanced approach to the effectiveness of essential oils without embellishing or diminishing. I will definitely be a repeat customer.
"I recently researched the best treatment for dry skin and scalp...I then came across some helpful info on the benefits of Jojoba oil and decided to look for an organic brand. Your oil is truly wonderful. I now use it exclusively for skin and scalp, only adding frankincense essential oil for its calming effects. This combo is exceptional. I'm very glad I found Cliganic."
As with many essential oils, we need a lot more information to find out more about the effects of lemongrass essential oil. But research has looked into a number of possible health benefits, including:
A 2014 test-tube study found that lemongrass essential oil was effective against Candida albicans, C. tropicalis, and Aspergillus niger fungi. This means it might help fight fungal infections IRL. But we need more human studies to find out more about all the fungus-fighting effects.
In a 2014 animal study, researchers found that oral lemongrass essential oil helped reduce inflammation in mice with carrageenan-induced paw edema. The same study also found that a topical solution of the oil reduced inflammation in mice that had ear edema.
Lemongrass oil might help reduce blood sugar levels in folks with type 2 diabetes, according to a 2007 animal study. The researchers gave 125 to 500 milligrams of lemongrass oil to rats orally for 42 days and found that it helped lower blood sugar levels and increase HDL (good) cholesterol levels.
Lemongrass might help a pounding head. One 2011 study found that native Australian lemongrass could help relieve headache and migraine pain. The researchers noted that a compound called eugenol might be the reason, thanks to its aspirin-like effects. But once again, we need more concrete proof.
Just add up to 12 drops of essential oil to a teaspoon of carrier oil (jojoba, almond, olive, and coconut oils are all top-tier choices). Then gently massage it into your skin. You can also dab it on your neck, wrists, or temples as a soothing alternative to perfume.
Lemongrass makes a fragrant essential oil that may offer health benefits such as antibacterial and antifungal properties, stress management, and pain relief. But more research is still needed to find out which of the proposed perks are for real.
When diluted, lemongrass oil is generally considered safe to use as an inhaled or topical treatment. Just be sure to stick to high quality brands and discontinue use ASAP if you notice any irritation.
Our organic lemongrass oil is a top note steam distilled from Cymbopogon flexuosus grass. This species is known as East Indian lemongrass, and also goes by Malabar or Cochin grass. It is related to citronella (Cymbopogon winterianus) and palmarosa (Cymbopogon martinii), two other highly aromatic grasses.
Lemongrass is found growing in many regions such as Thailand, India, and Burma where the fresh grass is used in culinary recipes. Lemongrass essential oil is thought to be energetically cleansing and helpful for stressful states of mind. It is used in massage oil for occasional soreness and included in cosmetics from soaps to lotions and skin care serums.
Blending and UsesWith its intense herbal citrus aromatics, lemongrass oil is found in many outdoor essential oil blends to help deter pests alongside citronella, cedarwood, thyme, and catnip. The cleansing properties of lemongrass pair well with sage in deodorants, or in soaps with rosemary, eucalyptus, and bergamot.
In diffuser blends the relaxing qualities can be emphasized with lavender or clary sage. For a bright and tropical feel combine lemongrass with fresh ginger and ylang ylang. This oil also combines beautifully in diffusers for a boost of energy with spearmint and lemon.
Packaging1/2 oz. and 1 oz. essential oils are packaged in amber glass bottles with drop reducers for easy application. Larger sizes are packaged in amber screw cap bottles and do not come with reducers or droppers.

Spectacular Customer Service I cannot say enough about the tremendous experiences I've always had with customer service. Even when the mistake is mine, they go out of their way to correct the situation. So rare these days that a company consistently has representatives that actually care about the customers. Kudos to you and the staff for the best treatment of customers anywhere! Was this review helpful to you?
Such a deal! My chiropractor told me about Revive and how he had researched it and found it to be more pure than any other essential oils. I noticed how wonderful his office smelled when I went and instead of selling it himself, just told me to go online and I could order from the website if I wished. He just wanted his patients to have access to high quality essential oils for much less cost. I have ordered quite a few oils from Revive and never again do I plan to use YL. I am certainly not interested in Multilevel promoting, just wish to share with my friends how great your products are.Was this review helpful to you?
