Norwegian Game Awards is a national amateur game-development competition for students.
- NGA is Norways largest game development competition
- NGA awards prizes to the best games within different categories,
giving away a substantial money price each year - NGA organizes several events in relation to the competition,
like a Kick-Off, different Workshops and a Grand Finale.
The purpose of Norwegian Game Awards is to promote games and game development among students and to boost creativity and innovation. We want to inspire students to come up with new ideas within the area of game development.
Game development is more than just programming and code; it is also modeling, graphics, sound, game concepts, storytelling and so on. We aim at including students with fields other than computer science in the contest and we want to show these students that their fields are also important in game development. By doing this we hope to increase the interest of game developing among students.
The NGA team comes from Start NTNU, a student organization promoting entrepreneurship. Our second goal with NGA is therefore to inspire the participants to consider starting their own game development business as a career after studies. We want to show that it is possible to create games here in Norway, and also provide students interested in game development with a chance to show their talent.
